At the same time, information kept travelling by noticeboard, service memo and team meeting. Which means it never reached a large share of the group's 11,000 employees, who have neither a named email address nor a workstation of their own.
The project was relaunched on three drivers at once: a quality-of-working-life action plan, an organization growing fast through acquisitions that needed somewhere to exist as a group, and a digital transformation programme sponsored by the executive committee. With one question asked from day one: how do we avoid repeating the failures that came before.
450 people are live at head office today. 53 facilities and 11,000 employees come next, in a single big-bang rollout.
